How to improve memory and concentration

Posted by Todd | On: May 12 2014

During our education we have been taught that each person is born with certain brain power, intelligence and memory capacity. Sadly, many people have accepted this as a fact and this “fact” has become common knowledge. However, various scientific experiments have shown that this claim is false.

The brain does not work like that. We know now that it is flexible and highly adaptable which means that it can be molded and improved. You can compare the brain with any muscle in the human body. By training and lifting weights a muscle can be strengthened and sculpted. If this premise is true about every single muscle in our bodies, than why it should not be true for the brain, too? Science has proved that it is true and that the more you use it, the stronger and more flexible the brain becomes.

In the 1970s, neuroscientist William Greenough proved that environmental enrichment urged the neurons to sprout new dendrites. He claimed that the branching caused by the environmental stimulation of learning, physical exercise and social contact caused the synapses to form more connections, and those connections had thicker myelin sheaths. In short he suggested that if you’re in good shape, you will be able to learn and function more efficiently and that exercise helps the brain learn.

If physical exercise can improve brain power and improve memory capacity, than regular mental exercise can do much more.

Our brains evolved to code and interpret complex stimuli such as images, colors, structures, sounds, smells, tastes, touch, positions, emotions and language. We use these to make sophisticated models of the world we live in. Our memories store all of these very effectively. And when it comes to memory and learning the human brain has an astonishing ability to adapt and change. With the right stimulation, your brain can form new neural pathways, alter existing connections, thus increasing brain power, improving memory and achieve amazing concentration and focus.

Every one can increase their mental and cognitive abilities, improve memory and enhance learning. It is not easy, but it is possible.

By the time we’ve reached adulthood, the brain has developed millions of neural pathways that help us process information quickly, solve familiar problems, and execute familiar tasks with a minimum of mental effort. But if we always stick to these well-worn paths, the brain does not receive the stimulation it needs to keep growing and developing.

NeuronsYou have to use your brain in order not to lose it. This is not easy. You will have to work hard and persistent, but the benefits are amazing. You do not have to be average. The potential of higher mental abilities lies inside you. Your brain has the unlimited capacity for learning and for much more. Just think of all the benefits you will gain if you start your brain training now. You can have amazing memory.

You need to try new things which are outside of your comfort zone. You need to perform mental tasks that are challenging. You need to interact with people. And lastly, these activities have to be fun.

However, the choice is yours. You are the only one who can decide whether you are ready to start your brain training and the first step towards new and better life. If you are already determined to improve your brain power, increase memory power and improve concentration, click HERE, continue your education and learn some memory tricks and tips.
